Preparing for your Surgery
Our patient navigator is here to help guide and support you with your joint replacement surgery.
Prior to surgery you will receive the following supplies from your surgeon’s office during either the pre-op appointment or the nurse visit:
- Patient and Family Guidebook
- 8 oz. bottle of the Bactoshield/Hibiclens® CHG (chlorhexidine gluconate) body wash
- Checklist and instructions on how to properly cleanse with the product
- Prescription for mupirocin nasal ointment (only if indicated)
Medical Clearance Exam
Your medical clearance exam (preop evaluation, bloodwork, and EKG) will be performed by your primary care physician (PCP) within 30 days before surgery. You might also be required to see a specialist, such as cardiologist or pulmonologist. This helps to make sure you are optimized for surgery, and safe to proceed with anesthesia.
