At Â鶹ÊÓƵ Vascular Specialists, we pride ourselves on offering state-of-the-art, comprehensive diagnostic and treatment services for patients with diseases of the circulatory system. Our exceptional team of board-certified surgeons, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, technologists, and administrative staff is committed to providing extraordinary care with the utmost compassion and attention to your needs.
More than seventy percent of the procedures we perform are minimally invasive in nature, which means quicker, easier, often outpatient procedures; shorter recovery times; and reduced complications for you. We perform open surgery when appropriate but prefer to take a conservative approach first. Our new endovascular suites, at each of our hospitals, allow for the physicians to use the newest technology to treat clots (one of our specialties is deep vein thrombosis or DVT), blockages, tears, abnormal narrowing, and all other vein and artery disorders -- from the simplest to the most complex.
At Â鶹ÊÓƵ Norfolk General Hospital, we have a hybrid operating room that allows us to specialize in the repair of abdominal and thoracic aortic aneurysms (AAA and TAA) using advanced endovascular methods. We also specialize in amputation prevention and rehabilitation, balloon angioplasty and stenting, vein access for dialysis and chemotherapy, stroke prevention, limb salvage, thoracic surgical oncology, diagnostic vascular services, and the treatment of peripheral arterial disease (PAD), carotid artery disease, kidney disease, diabetic vascular disease, varicose veins, and venous disease.
For kidney patients with acute renal failure, chronic kidney disease, or end stage renal disease, we provide circulatory system access for hemodialysis and kidney transplantation services through the Â鶹ÊÓƵ Transplant Center. In fact, Â鶹ÊÓƵ Vascular Specialists is the only group in Hampton Roads and eastern North Carolina that performs kidney and pancreas transplantations.
As strong advocates of preventive health care, we offer a wide variety of diagnostic and screening tools, such as angiography and non-invasive vascular testing. The specialists in our amputation prevention and rehabilitation programs work closely with you to tailor a medically supervised prevention and rehabilitative program that's right for you.
The physicians at Â鶹ÊÓƵ Vascular Specialists value innovation and leading-edge research as a way to learn about and provide newer, more effective treatment approaches. Our surgeons are nationally recognized experts in their fields and regularly participate in clinical trials, focusing on studies such as lower extremity revascularization, innovative stent technology, new balloon technology, and others. Our surgeons serve as faculty at Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences at ODU and take a lead role in the advanced training of the school's vascular residents and fellows.
